Chandelier Size Guide
Getting the size right is just as important as the style. Use this guide to find the ideal fixture diameter and hanging height for any room — so your chandelier looks exactly as it should.
Matching fixture size to room size
Add your room's length and width in feet. That number in inches is your ideal chandelier diameter. A 12 × 14 ft room = aim for around a 26" fixture.

For open-plan spaces that flow into other rooms, size up by one row — the fixture needs more visual presence to anchor the space.
Quick formula
Don't see your exact room? Use this rule of thumb:
A 14 × 16 ft living room → 14 + 16 = 30 → look for a fixture around 28–36".
An 18 × 20 ft open-plan space → 18 + 20 = 38 → aim for 42–48" to hold the room.
Sizing over a dining table
The chandelier should be narrower than your table — roughly 12" less than the table width on each side, so it doesn't visually overhang the seating.

For rectangular tables, match the fixture length to roughly two-thirds of the table length. For round tables, the diameter rule applies directly.
Round tables
Choose a fixture roughly half the diameter of the table. A 54" round table pairs beautifully with a 24–30" chandelier.
Kitchen islands
For linear pendants over an island, the fixture should span about two-thirds the island length. Multiple pendants in a row also work well.
Centering the fixture
Always center the chandelier above the table itself, not the room. If the table is off-center, the fixture follows the table.
Hanging height by room type
Height makes or breaks the look. Too high and the fixture loses impact. Too low and it becomes an obstacle. Use these guidelines for each room.

General tips
A few things worth knowing before you order.
Measure twice
Measure your room in feet, your table in inches, and your ceiling height — all three — before selecting a fixture. It takes two minutes and prevents returns.
High ceilings
With ceilings above 10 ft, add 3" per extra foot of ceiling height. A 12 ft ceiling needs the fixture hung roughly 6" lower than standard guidance.
Sloped ceilings
Most Morsale fixtures can be installed on a sloped ceiling with an angled canopy adapter. Check the product page or contact us to confirm compatibility.
Professional installation
We recommend using a licensed electrician — especially for heavier crystal fixtures. It ensures safe wiring and perfect levelling.
